It’s tax season, so let’s talk about money management and finances with Hannah Bae, Lauren Hardie and Karen K. Ho, who will help guide journalists through some $ dos and don’ts. The webinar, hosted by Yung AAJA and moderated by Yung AAJA director Beena Raghavendran, will cover student loans\/credit cards, budgeting and \u2014 because it’s tax season! \u2014 taxes for freelancers and full-time staffers. Hannah Bae<\/strong> is a freelance journalist and nonfiction writer whose work has been published in the anthology \u201c(Don\u2019t) Call Me Crazy: 33 Voices Start the Conversation on Mental Health\u201d and \u201cThe Monocle Travel Guide to Seoul,” as well as news outlets including CNN, Monocle, Eater, The Associated Press and more. She is focused on stories about Korean American culture and identity, and she is at work on a memoir. She recently completed an Open City fellowship in narrative nonfiction at the Asian American Writers’ Workshop, and she was the president of Asian American Journalists Association’s New York chapter from 2017-2019. Karen frequently covers business stories that intersect with race, gender, and diversity. Beena Raghavendran<\/strong> is an engagement reporter for ProPublica’s Local Reporting Network, an initiative to support local investigative journalism in U.S. newsrooms. Her work includes crowd-powered reporting in communities across the country, as well as running events, questionnaires and consulting with local newsrooms on how to best use engagement tools in their coverage areas. Prior to ProPublica, Beena was an education reporter at the Minneapolis Star Tribune, where she covered Minneapolis city schools and suburban education. She’s been involved with AAJA through her whole journalism career \u2014 she started as a member of the VOICES student project in 2015, served a stint as Minnesota chapter president and now serves as director of Yung AAJA, AAJA’s young professionals network. She’s a graduate of the University of Maryland’s journalism school.<\/p>\n
