\"Kathy_Chow_pic.jpg\"After eight years as Executive Director of the Asian American Journalists Association, I am submitting my resignation. I am proud of my tenure and honored to have worked with such passionate and dedicated journalists. You have challenged and inspired me.<\/span><\/p>

I have accepted the position to be the first female Executive Director of the\u00a0American Association of Cosmetology Schools<\/a><\/span>, a national association with 94 years of success advancing the beauty and wellness profession.<\/p>

Thank you past and present leadership for the opportunity to serve AAJA. I am proud to have been a part of AAJA\u2019s growth. Together we have accomplished a lot including launching Media Institute, securing the largest foundation funding the organization has ever received for programs such as the Criminal Justice Project, the Heartland Project and enhancing professional opportunities for the membership.<\/p>

I would also like to thank the members, sponsors, partners and foundations that I have been fortunate to have worked with. Each of you has helped me grow as a professional and I will miss these relationships the most.<\/p>

My last day with the organization will be Tuesday, May 15, 2018. Until then, I will be working with the board and the staff on a transition plan.<\/p>

Thank you again for the opportunity to have served this incredibly wonderful organization.<\/p>

Dear AAJA Family,\u00a0<\/p>

For all of us on the board, our Executive Director Kathy Chow\u2019s announcement today is bittersweet. In the past eight years, she has transformed our organization. She led our national staff to launch new reporting initiatives, including the Criminal Justice Project and the Heartland Project, strengthened and grew our partnerships, and most importantly, positioned AAJA for an era of incredible growth.\u00a0<\/p>

While her leadership will be dearly missed, we are also incredibly proud of her for continuing to make history as the first female Executive Director of the American Association of Cosmetology Schools.\u00a0<\/p>

For the next month, we will work closely with Kathy and our national staff to ensure a smooth transition. We\u2019re entering a new chapter for AAJA, but we\u2019re committed to advancing our mission, offering our signature training programs and hosting an incredible annual convention in Houston for you and our sponsors.\u00a0<\/p>

There will be more updates to come. In the meantime, please join us in congratulating Kathy on her next adventure. She leaves behind a remarkable legacy: one we will always be thankful for, and one we will never forget.\u00a0<\/p>
