AARP is looking for stories about family caregiving\u00a0in the\u00a0Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI)\u00a0community.<\/p><p>This contest*\u00a0will be open to journalists and media makers as we seek stories that capture the emotional, financial and personal impacts of caregiving through our cultural perspectives. These stories can be your personal journeys or accounts of other AAPIs who have been impacted by caregiving for a loved one. There will be three submission categories:<\/p><ul><li><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 20px; float: right;\" src=\"https:\/\/d3n8a8pro7vhmx.cloudfront.net\/aaja\/pages\/3328\/attachments\/original\/1532968735\/richardlui-dad.png?1532968735\" alt=\"2016_06_aarp_richard_0166.png\" width=\"456\" height=\"303\" \/>A mini-documentary or television news story (3-5 minutes)<\/li><li>A first-person essay or article (no more than 1,000 words) with 1-3 supplementary photos or images<\/li><li>A photo essay (8-15 photos) with artist&#8217;s statement (500 words or less)<\/li><\/ul><p>A winner will be selected from each of the three categories. We will publish the top features through\u00a0select\u00a0AAJA and AARP channels in November 2018 as part of National Family Caregivers Month.<\/p><p>The top winner of each format will win:<\/p><ul><li>$1,000 cash<\/li><li>One (1) convention registration for #AAJA19 taking place at the Loews Atlanta Hotel in Atlanta, GA July 31-August 3, 2019<\/li><li>One (1) round-trip airfare within the continental U.S. to Atlanta, GA to attend #AAJA19<\/li><li>Three (3) nights of hotel accommodations at the Loews Atlanta Hotel<\/li><\/ul><p>Rules and Restrictions:<\/p><ul><li>You must be a paid, active AAJA member (Subject to verification)<\/li><li>Only one (1) submission per category<\/li><li>You can submit to more than one (1) category<\/li><li>All submissions must be published or created within the last year<\/li><li>You do not have to be an AARP member<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>UPDATE:<\/strong>\u00a0The deadline to submit your entries has been extended to<strong>\u00a0Friday, December 7<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>11:59pm PT<\/strong>.<\/p><p>Questions?
