Ramy was recently elected to serve as AAJA Senior Vice President for the 2019 term.<\/p><p>The Vice President of Journalism Programs ensures that AAJA\u2019s professional training and support stays ahead of industry changes. This officer is primarily dedicated to fulfilling two crucial tenets of AAJA\u2019s mission:<\/p><ul><li>To provide a means of association and support among Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) journalists, and to advance AAPI journalists as news managers and media executives.<\/li><li>To provide encouragement, information, advice and scholarship assistance to AAPI students who aspire to professional journalism careers.<\/li><\/ul><p class=\"post-info\">The Vice President of Journalism Programs-elect will be expected to attend the 2018 AAJA Fall Board Meeting taking place November 16-17, 2018\u00a0in San Francisco, California.<\/p><p class=\"post-info\">Electronic voting will begin\u00a0<strong>Friday, October 19 at<\/strong><strong>\u00a05pm PT<\/strong>\u00a0with the final results announced via email on\u00a0<strong>Monday,\u00a0October 29<\/strong>. His work is a mix of web development, graphics and journalism. Frank is also an adjunct professor at Fordham University in Bronx, New York where he teaches data literacy and visualization. Additionally, he is a Google News Initiative trainer and travels to dozens of newsrooms, conferences and classrooms every year to teach young and veteran journalists alike on utilizing free journalism tools in their workflows. Frank graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in computer science. As an AAJA member, Frank is the National Convention Programming Chair for the 2019 convention in Atlanta, Georgia. He has served in this position for the past two conferences. Frank is a 2011 graduate of Voices and is also the emcee of AAJA&#8217;s annual karaoke night.<\/p><p><strong>Excerpt from Frank&#8217;s candidate statement:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><p><em>&#8220;I&#8217;ll make it my responsibility to ensure our organization&#8217;s signature programs remain at the top of their game and are well-funded and unblocked from doing what they do best. Archith is an engineer turned journalist and an alumnus of Georgia Tech where he got his Masters in Industrial Engineering.
