AAJA stands with the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ<\/a><\/span>), National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ<\/a><\/span>), the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ<\/a><\/span>) and many other organizations in the call to reinstate the press credentials of CNN reporter Jim Acosta.<\/span><\/p>

AAJA also demands an end to the administration\u2019s hostilities against individual journalists. The President\u2019s verbal assaults on journalists \u2013 using terms like \u201cracist,\u201d \u201cstupid,\u201d \u201cnasty,\u201d and \u201closer\u201d \u2013 are unacceptable. These journalists are tasked with covering the administration and reporting the news to the American public.<\/span><\/p>

Regardless of one journalist\u2019s reporting style, suspending credentials due to their line of questioning amounts to punishing a member of the free press for doing their job. We believe this is a dangerous step that threatens press freedom \u2013 a hallmark of this country\u2019s founding values.<\/span><\/p>
